Belo NEXA at One Ayala, Makati stands as a groundbreaking architectural and design endeavor, redefining the landscape of medical aesthetics by seamlessly integrating cutting-edge technology with refined design sensibilities. Conceived as the flagship clinic of the Belo Medical Group, this space is more than just a clinic—it is a meticulously crafted environment that balances futurism with a warmth that defies the conventional sterility of medical spaces.

For Dr. Hayde Kho Jr.—Managing Director of Belo Medical Group—the vision for Belo NEXA was not just about creating a futuristic space but redefining what the future of beauty and wellness should feel like. “What would the future look like?” he recalls asking at the inception of the project. The common perception of the future—robots, machines, and cold steel—felt distant from the warm, high-touch philosophy that defines Belo. “We are in a very high-touch industry. At the end of the day, we are about beauty and about the warmest touch,” he explains. Instead of a sterile, hyper-technological environment, the challenge became blending the advancements of modern aesthetics with a sense of comfort, warmth, and familiarity.
The name itself, “NEXA,” was a natural choice. “It’s next level. It sounds futuristic. And it represents the nexus of everything we stand for—beauty, wellness, design, and arts,” Hayden explains. More than just a flagship, Belo’s goal was to position the country as a hub for medical aesthetics in Asia. “We want people to realize there’s something amazing here in the Philippines, that we’re really one of the best in Asia, if not the world.” This ambition set the tone for the collaboration between Hayden, architect Marc Henrich Go, and renowned interior designer and artist Budji Layug of Studio BDJ, shaping a space that embodies both forward-thinking innovation and timeless luxury.

Marc Henrich Go describes the design process as a deep exploration of Belo’s identity. “We didn’t want to copy any style. We wanted to discover what Belo should be, in its own language,” he says. Having worked on more than ten Belo clinics, he recognized that each space carried its own unique DNA but Belo Nexa needed to be a step beyond what people expect of the brand. The challenge was achieving a balance between materials—wood, stone, glass, and steel—interpreted in ways that felt fresh, natural, and ultimately, comforting. Organic elements, from warm wood and smooth stone accents to subtle references to corals and waves, soften the technological edge seen through Nexa’s high-tech machinery and bespoke LED AI art wall towering over the clinic’s high-ceiling grand lobby.
